Donde esta la biblioteca?

My mom and I were talking last week about fitness and health. We like to swap stories about new exercises we've tried, classes we've taken or recipes that were successes or failures. Mom has been taking Pilates a lot and raves about it. She has said, "If I knew about this 20 years ago, I'd have a flat stomach today." Mom and I are both distinctly apple shaped with rounder middles. I prefer to call us more Botticelli than Apple.

I have a Pilates class at my gym, but it's always when I have to work and I made this point to her to explain why I've never done a Pilates class. And then she pulled out this gem:

"You know you can get DVDs at the library."

YOU CAN????

Turns out you can. Some are Pilates, some are Yoga, some are Carmen Electra's Strip Aerobics, but they are all there. Along with some other genres, especially classic movies. I found 2 copies of Oklahoma!  and all the rest of the Rogers and Hammerstein favorites.

And did you know you can get books there, too?

I joke, but I am blown away by how much money people spend on this stuff completely unaware of the power of the library.

So the next time you're about to buy a book or want to try a new DVD not on Netflix or listen to some music the old school way (via CD), consider checking out the library to save yourself money every year and the headache of having to give away a once-used copy of The Wedding Singer. Not that I have any experience with that.

I'm happy to announce that Justus Joseph won the free Household Budgeting session! I'll be in touch Justus to get that going.
